Certificate of Non-Impediment (New York)
This Certificate is issued upon request to be used as proof of unmarried status when getting married in a foreign country. The Certificate is issued solely upon the sworn statement of the applicant, with no liability for the information assumed by the City of New York or the Office of the City Clerk. The applicant must appear in person in the Manhattan office and provide acceptable proof of identification in order to obtain the certificate.
In order to obtain a Certificate of non-impediment the applicant must reside within the city of New York. The Certificate of Non-Impediment is valid for six months from the issuance date. The applicant must provide the following information:
* Future spouse's full name
* Town / City and Country where the ceremony is to be performed
* A ceremony date / month / within the six month period of the certificate being issued
